What They Do:
A dentist is a trained professional who assists in the maintenance of a great dental health. A dentist usually performs a routine check for each patient twice a year, every six months. Dentists are responsible for diagnosing and treating problems of the gums, teeth, and mouth. They write a patient's diagnosis down in a report, then they treat them using modern technology including X-ray machines, drills, lasers, scalpels, among other tools. Dentists might also participate in programs to teach people about dental hygiene, give anesthesia, and check on the growth of teeth according to known trends. Dentists might decide to specialize in areas including orthodontics, which requires a postgraduate residency. As medical doctors they are, dentists play a crucial role in maintaining public health, and therefore, are admirable.
